The Senior 3-Pitch Champions: TextNow. The team returned to take the title two years in a row by defeating Tentworks in the final on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Congratulations to all involved!
A recap of our 2019 season highlights, results, awards and championship games. As always, our focus is on good sportsmanship, team play and participation rather than totally on winning and results. We'd really like everyone to measure individual success by their improvement in each player's skills, social interaction with teammates & other players and their enjoyment of the game.
The addition of play area #6 (with a wider backstop) for Jr T-Ball at Franklin helped us make things a lot more convenient for everyone. Unfortunately, construction at the rear of the school took #5 out of commission but, when #4 got re-aligned we had it widened similar to #6. The good news is that the construction should be done by the end of July and then #5 (widened as well) will be re-installed. We'll be back better than ever and everyone will have new basketball courts at Franklin!
This season we moved away from a one-day wrap-up (HotDog Day) celebration for everyone. Each team's final game was on one of its preferred playing days. Rain-outs and field closures played havoc on the schedule to the extent that the Jr 3-Pitch Consolation final got bumped back to Sunday June 23. (Rain also caused a major change in plans for Thursday's event but all the coaches picked up their team's player packages by 6:30 pm that night!)
Thanks to all our sponsors, our officiating crew, the supervisors (all of whom are volunteers) and the hundreds of volunteers who work to make all this possible. Yes, we need more help --- lots of room for improvement yet and more changes coming for next year! (Our website platform will be no longer available so lots to get ready in that department! ) Domino's stepped up with pizza vouchers for the coaches and worked with us so every player could end the season with a slice from Domino's. It worked well!
Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic and our two local Councillors, Scott Davey and Dave Schnider) made it out on Sat. June 22 as 16 teams wrapped up their seasons to thank the volunteers and help Lisa Collins handout the City's volunteer pins.
These players are being recognized for their performance this year & being good team players. All are good sports, a pleasure to coach and are aware that, in a team sport such as 3-Pitch, their personal success is in no small part due to the efforts & contributions of their teammates. These individual trophies themselves are sponsored by Tentworks. Congratulations to one and all!
